The benefits of electric driving without the restrictions: the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron is the first premium compact car with a standard plug-in hybrid drive. With its combination of cutting-edge TFSI® technology and an electric motor, it gets by on a frugal 1.7-1.5 l of fuel per 100 km while keeping CO2 emissions to a mere 39-35 g/km (combined). All that with a total range of up to 940 kilometres (up to 50 kilometres on purely electric power).


From 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.

With a system output of 150 kW (204 bhp) and a system torque of 350 Nm, the Audi A3 Sportback e-tron is a true Audi. It completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 222 km/h. Measured in accordance with the ECE standard for plug-in hybrid cars, the five-door model consumes, on average, 1.7-1.5 litres of fuel per 100 km, which translates into CO2 emissions of 35 grams per km.

Disc-shaped electric motor

The combustion engine is a modified 1.4 TFSI, putting out 110 kW (150 bhp) of power. The TFSI is coupled with an electric motor which provides 75 kW (102 bhp). The disc-shaped electric motor is integrated into a newly designed 6-speed e-S tronic which directs the forces to the front wheels. Both drives complement each other – the e-motor provides its maximum torque from the start to about 2,000 rpm, while the TFSI reaches its maximum traction in the range from 1,750 to 4,000 rpm.

Powerful acceleration

The Audi Sportback A3 e-tron can be driven with just the combustion engine, just the electric drive, or in hybrid mode with both. In electric mode, it already offers powerful acceleration without having to engage the TFSI. Only when the driver so desires will both engines be activated simultaneously (“boosting”). When the driver eases off the accelerator, they are temporarily deactivated (“coasting”). This eliminates engine brake torque and increases efficiency.
