Airbag safety recall

Danger to life due to defective airbags

  • The worldwide recalls of Takata airbags affect among many other manufacturers also Audi models. It may therefore be that a faulty airbag in your vehicle also poses a serious safety risk to you and your passengers. Here you can get more information and check if you are affected. Check here by entering the VIN whether your vehicle is affected. Important: Based on our analysis of which vehicles are affected, the list of vehicles is updated regularly. Therefore, check here on a recurring basis whether your vehicle is affected.

Is your vehicle affected as well?

Over the years, the company Takata has supplied the automotive industry with airbags containing faulty gas generators that can undergo changes due to aging caused by certain climatic influences (heat and humidity) and thus become dangerous.
At Audi, these airbags have been installed in your country in vehicles from the years
(2005-2018). Please check with your vehicle identification number in the VIN check above, if your vehicle is affected. This should be done recurrently, because the vehicle lists are updated regularly.

How dangerous is it?

If the airbag is triggered in an accident, the pressure generated when the gas generator is ignited may be significantly too high.
This can result in pieces of metal being ejected into the vehicle interior. This can lead to serious injuries and, in the worst case, death.

What do you have to do?

If your vehicle is affected, please contact an Audi service partner immediately to have the relevant components replaced. This will only take about an hour and is free of charge for you.
Your safety is important to us, so please have your vehicle checked and repaired immediately.
